First Rinse Instructions

The first rinse after your spray tan is timed based on your desired result and type of tan solution used. YOU MUST ADHERE TO THIS RINSE TIME TO AVOID UNDESIRABLE RESULTS.

  • The first rinse should be done in warm (not hot) water promptly at the scheduled time given. DO NOT use soap for the first rinse, just water.

  • When you get in the shower let the water hit your feet first and use your hands in soft circular motions to guide the bronzer off the skin. Work your way up from feet to face- thoroughly removing bronzer from all areas of your body including underarms, inner thighs, and hairline.

  • Make sure to rinse until the water runs clear (you no longer see bronzer running off your skin)

  • Check in a mirror, front and back, afterwards to make sure you don’t see any “streaky” areas of uneven bronzer. If you do see this-get back in the shower to rinse just until color looks even. Color will appear up to 75% lighter after the first rinse-this is normal and not the final tan result. You will see the final result in 24 hours.

  • Pat dry with a towel, don’t rub, and moisturize with a spray tan safe moisturizer once dry.

  • Your tan will continue to darken for the next 24 hours

Tan Development and Instructions During Tan Processing Time (when bronzer is on your skin)

  • The color on your skin when you leave your appointment is due to a cosmetic bronzer. This is like a makeup and can be transferred to surfaces so take care to sit on a towel if necessary and use a sleep sack if sleeping overnight in your bronzer during your processing time, to prevent bronzer transer onto sheets, etc. Loose long sleeves and pants can help prevent transfer as well.

  • When you do your first rinse and the bronzer comes off it may look as if the tan is gone or much lighter. This is not the final result of your tan. Over the next 24 hours the tan will fully develop and continue to darken- you will see the final result after 24 hours.

  • While the bronzer is on, before your first rinse, it is VERY important that you not get any area of your skin wet. This includes hand washing, rain, and sweat. During this time you also need to avoid touching your skin with your hands and any skin to skin contact such as crossing your legs in shorts, etc.

  • After the first rinse you do not need to worry about getting wet anymore but you should still avoid soap and heavy sweating for the first 24 hours.
